           Candidates will demonstrate the ability to plan one or more units of study that meet the curricular recommendations for the National Science Education Standards.  This unit(s) should address the diverse goals of the standards and the needs and abilities of students. Within these unit plan(s) candidates should also design multiple assessment tools and strategies that are aligned with the methods of instruction and needs of students.  The multiple assessments should be used to guide and modify instruction, the classroom environment, or the assessment process.  Finally, the results of the assessments should be used as a vehicle for students to analyze and reflect on their own learning and work.

Plant and Animal Respiration (PDF)
7th grade Life Sciences; This lesson satisfies NSTA standards 1c
This probeware lesson plan centers around the process and interconnectedness of animal respiration and photosynthesis. It also covers the importance of sunlight to plants, environmental implications of climate change and pollution, the relationship between pH and carbon dioxide, and technological applications.

7th grade Life Sciences; This lesson satisfies NSTA standards 3b, 4a, 6b, and 7a
This lesson centers around the concept of food webs, relationships, and the interconnectedness of organisms. The students also discuss disruptive human impact on ecosystems, endangered species, and the implications of this lesson in their local community.
